Flatbed Red

Our Flatbed Red is a rich, jammy blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot. The nose brims with aromas of boysenberry pie, black cherries and plums. The palate delivers raspberry and black cherry, with threads of freshly turned earth, prunes, cocoa, cinnamon, dark chocolate and anise. This is an approachable, full-bodied red wine with smooth tannins and a juicy finish.

The 2016 season started warm, yet a relatively mild growing season ensued, characterized by minimal frost and rain. Following harvest in early fall, each grape variety was fermented separately to allow its full varietal character to develop before blending. After a warm fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation to enhance the texture and mouthfeel. This blend was aged with a mix of French and American oak for eight months to create greater depth and complexity in the glass.
